Precision hair loss treatment
Hair growth is written in your DNA
Most people spend years working through hair loss treatments one at a time. A pharmacogenetic test tells you which actives your body is set up to respond to, so your first formulation is an informed one.
No account needed to read the library. Nothing is dispensed without prescriber review.
An example of how predicted response is presented. Your own panel is built from your sample and questionnaire. It is not a prediction of how much hair you will regrow.
Guided by your DNA
48 genetic variations across 13 genes, not a one size fits all starter pack.
Approved by a prescriber
Every formulation is reviewed before a pharmacy compounds it.
One daily topical
A single bottle covering several pathways at once. No tablets to swallow.
Tracked, not guessed
Photos and supply logged in your dashboard so progress is visible.
The problem
Everyone responds differently to the same treatment
Hair regrowth is difficult because biology is not uniform. The same bottle that transforms one person does nothing at all for the next, and the only way most people find out is by giving each option the better part of a year.
That trial and error is expensive in the one currency that matters here, which is time. Follicles that have been dormant long enough do not come back, so the months spent on a treatment your body was never going to respond to are not recoverable.
The usual route
- 1. Try minoxidil for six months. Nothing obvious.
- 2. Add finasteride. Wait another six months.
- 3. Read a forum. Change something. Wait again.
- 4. Two years gone, and you still cannot say what worked.
Our approach
Stop guessing, start growing
Our Hair DNA Test is a pharmacogenetic test built on DNA microarray technology, with more than fifty published studies behind it. It reads 48 genetic variations across 13 genes tied to hair loss and to how you metabolise the drugs used to treat it.
Those results are combined with a questionnaire covering your medical history, medication, intolerances and family pattern. The output is not a horoscope. It is a ranked view of which active ingredients you are likely to respond to, and which ones to leave alone.

Why personalise
Genetic, not generic
A retail bottle has to work for everyone, which in practice means it is optimised for nobody. Compounding removes that constraint: your formulation is mixed for you, drawing on 11 vehicles and 62 active pharmaceutical ingredients.
That includes actives you cannot buy over the counter, such as latanoprost, 17-alpha estradiol and spironolactone, chosen only where your report and your history support them.
- Genetic insight into the treatments most likely to suit you
- A formulation compounded for your results, not an off the shelf box
- Several pathways targeted at once rather than one at a time
- A wider set of proven actives than any retail product carries
- Contraindications and intolerances screened before anything is dispensed
- Reviewed by a registered prescriber
- One daily topical, no tablets to swallow
- Delivered to your door
Know before you grow
Minoxidil has to be activated by an enzyme in the scalp. In people whose sulphotransferase activity is low, the standard topical is far less likely to do anything at all.
It is the most common reason a perfectly sensible treatment quietly fails for a year. The test looks at that pathway before you commit to it.
Sulphotransferase activity as a predictor of minoxidil response is described in the published literature. See the minoxidil article for the detail and the caveats.
What we test for
Nine pathways, and what each one changes
The test reads 48 genetic variations across 13 genes. They group into nine categories, and each one moves a different lever in your formulation.
Governs how well you activate minoxidil and whether prostaglandin analogues such as latanoprost are worth including. This is the single most common reason a standard minoxidil course does nothing.
Panel composition and the nine categories are published by the laboratory that runs the assay. Your report shows your own variants and the predicted response for each active. It does not predict how much hair you will regrow.
How it works
Our precision treatment process
Hair is measured in months, so the plan is built around a year.
- 01
Test and questionnaire
A painless saliva sample at home, plus a questionnaire covering your history, medication, intolerances and family pattern. Post it back in the prepaid envelope. Results come back roughly two weeks after the laboratory receives it.
- 02
Your custom regimen
Your genetic report and questionnaire drive the formulation, selected from 11 vehicles and 62 active ingredients. A prescriber reviews it, a registered pharmacy compounds it, and it arrives at your door. Alongside the topical you get a vitamin and diet supplement plan, built from the vitamin, mineral and antioxidant results in your report rather than guessed at.
- 03
Tracked, month by month
Apply once a day and log photos in your dashboard. Hair moves slowly, so we plan in months rather than weeks. Three months is the earliest point worth judging a response, and a year is where the picture is genuinely clear.
The plan
Start with the test, build from there
Everything begins with the saliva sample. What you do afterwards is up to you.
Three Months Plan
Three months, one payment, nothing recurring.
One off. Includes your DNA test and three months of topical.
Or spread the cost with Klarna.
- Your DNA test kit, with a prepaid return envelope
- Your full genetic report
- A topical formulated from your report and questionnaire
- Reviewed and approved by a prescriber before dispensing
- Three months of supply, compounded by a registered pharmacy
- Photo and supply tracking in your dashboard
The 12 month regimen
The full protocol, tracked from month one.
Per month for twelve months. Includes your DNA test and topical.
- Everything in the three month option
- Twelve months of topical, reformulated as your results change
- A personalised supplement and prescription plan
- Photo tracking with side by side comparison over the year
- Supply tracking so you reorder before you run out
- Trichologist consultations when you want a human view
You can cancel early. An early cancellation charge of £350 applies, which covers the test and the formulation work already done.
Prices shown are provisional and subject to change.
The 12 month regimen is a twelve month commitment billed monthly. You can cancel before the end of the term, but an early cancellation charge of £350 applies. The three month option is a single payment with nothing recurring.
Klarna is available on the Three Months Plan and lets you split the payment. It is provided by Klarna, not by us, and is subject to status, your age (18 or over) and Klarna's own terms.
Prescription items are dispensed only after review by a registered prescriber. Results vary between individuals and no treatment works for everyone.
Why us
Why Original Science
Impartial by design
We took no sponsorships and no affiliate deals when we wrote the library, and that has not changed now we sell something. If the evidence for a product is thin, we say so.
Evidence you can check
Every claim in the library links to the research behind it. You are welcome to read all of it and buy nothing.
Genetics, not guesswork
Trial and error costs months per attempt. Testing first narrows the field before you commit a year to a formulation.
Progress you can see
Your dashboard keeps dated photos side by side, so you are judging results against a record rather than a memory.
Free to read
Read everything first. Buy nothing.
We wrote a library on hair loss before we sold anything, and it stays free and unsponsored. If you would rather work it out yourself, all of it is here.

Questions
The things people ask first
If yours is not here, the contact form reaches a person.
No. It is included in both options, because the formulation is built from your genetic report and cannot be made without it. It is a once in a lifetime test, so you never pay for it twice.
Stop guessing. Start with the test.
One saliva sample, taken once, that tells you which treatments are worth your next twelve months.
